Tehelka sting exposes our Society
Tehelka is back this time more strongly with its new sting on Gujarat pogrom. The sting is very significance and Historic not only because of its sensitivity but mainly because of its description of facts and its impact on our Society. Politicians have every right to question its timing, the intention, and authenticity especially after the fake sting of a channel, and Assembly Election in Gujarat but the reality that came out of this is very dangerous, grave and shocking.
Since, tapes are open for scrutiny by the Courts and the Commissions, No channel or magazines will ever dare to indulge in the fake sting of this nature which has shaken the nation. The meaningful silence of the orator and the self proclaimed lion of Gujarat and the resignation of Arvind Pandya, Advocate General of Gujarat, establish the authenticity to the sting.
Sting has shown us a Mirror. It supports what K.S. Subramanian has noted (he is The Author of Political Violence and a member of concerned citizens’ tribunal, who visited Gujarat after the pogrom in 2002) as a CONJOINT EFFORT of a section of Majority community and the state government both wedded to the same ideology. It also explores how self centered politicians can use misguided masses and then throw them in Jail. How can they Corrupt the Lawyers, can communalize the Administration, can bribe the people in our judiciary and most important of them all how can they abuse the power and knowledge to discriminate, to benefit themselves and can make Justice Impossible. Politicians, Administration, Judiciary, the pillars of our democracy are prone to get abused or corrupted. It puts a question mark on our democracy because the whole system can be misused by the few people.
It also clarifys that the Hindutva presented by the RSS, BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal is different or in fact contradictory to the Hinduism. The true Hindu and they are in Majority, will never support Schism in Gujarat and will term it a slap on Hinduism. In fact No sane human being will ever support the butchering of pregnant women, burning of Children and slaughtering of innocent human being. All these were the reaction of the misguided masses but what is more brutal, ruthless and inhuman was the attitude of white color criminals like, the Police who allegedly murdered the Indian citizens just because of their religious affiliation, the Lawyers, who managed the court cases in favor of the Criminals, the Politicians who instigated religious sentiment, polarized the society to get elected and remain in the power. The Hindutva presented by the Sangh Parivaar is in contrast to Hinduism and broadly rejected by the majority and that is why these communal forces could not come to power on their own ever.
The role of Congress is rightly interpreted by the journalists as guarded and this class sees everything in the terms of Elections. Coming to power is their ultimate goal. Humanity, Nationalism, Patriotism, secularism are the words for them to use in the speeches and forget. Why congress does not file the case when Mr.Abhishek Singhvi himself admitted in the talk show that these tapes can be used as legal evidence? The fact of the matter is Congress is as guilty as the BJP as could be understand by their attitudes towards Srikrishna Commission in Maharashtra. Tarun Tejpal, editor of Tehehlka, has rightly concluded that the shining name like Sonia and Manmohan present abject report cards Modi walks with the Bravery of the bigot; and the idea of India dulls by the day.
It’s a challenge for the Election Commission to conduct the Free and Fair Election in Gujarat because the whole of administration has been under pressure to work for the MODI or the BJP as could be seen by the action taken against the news Channels by the District Collector of Ahmedabad, who is also the Election Officer of the District. False implication of a reporter also confirms this. These feelings are reflected by the NRIs statement also where 17 Indian American organizations and 21 eminent members of the NRI community in the United States urged the UPA Government to impose Presidents' rule in Gujarat, arrest ''all criminals'' who confessed their crime and transfer all legal cases pertaining to the 2002 Gujarat riots to a court outside Gujarat.
What is now needed is the Action. As proposed by the leading Lawyer like Yusuf Muchala , the Supreme Court must take SUO MOTO action as they took in the case of Gujjars right in Rajasthan recently Or as recommended by Majeed Memon that the Chief Monster,( describe by Anil Dharkar) Narendra Modi be debar from contesting Election. Check the authenticity of the tape, punish the guilty and the culprits as early as possible because the Justice delayed may not be justice denied but will definitely support the barbarians come to power and will abused it in their favor.
Secondly Mike Ghouse, a Speaker, Thinker, Writer, Moderator and president of the Foundation for Pluralism has rightly observed that Parallels can be drawn between Hitler and Modi. Both of them had an Iron clad grip on some of their people, both of them brought economic prosperity while one was annihilating Jews, the other was tacitly letting Muslims be butchered. The ones who are reaping the benefits of the unprecedented economic prosperity considered both the men as their God given leaders; their word was the final word to them. However deep down, any soul should feel the intense pain and suffering of the victims, after all without such feeling, one cannot be called a human. Adharma is a bigger killer of a civil society than any weapons of mass destruction.
Finally, Guajarati community must vote out these criminals because they are no friend of them as alleged by the father of the Ex-Home Minister of Gujarat, Harin Pandya and complained by the Babu Bajrangi that VHP did not support the rioters who were in Jail. So our society must come back to the Gandhisim and reject the Modism.

It is shocking to note that India lost the maximum life due to terrorism after Iraq and that calls for a critical analysis of the data and statistics for an urgent action plan. The data is collected from the American government site http://wits.nctc.gov/ and not from any neutral and unbiased International agencies like United Nation hence requires critical analysis. U.S is at self waged war and had persistently spread the lies, as part of its war propaganda. Who can forget its explicit lie in the UN Assembly about the Weapon of Mass Destruction, to give a veneer of legitimization to its illegal invasion of Iraq? Lastly but Most importantly the U.S. has its own policies and priorities that are altogether different from India.

The site, in its Methodology section itself admits caveats: "The data provided on the website consists of incidents in which sub-national or clandestine groups or individuals deliberately or recklessly attacked civilians or non-combatants (including military personnel and assets outside war zones and war-like settings) . Determination of what constitutes a terrorist act, however, can be more art than science; information is often incomplete, fact patterns may be open to interpretation, and perpetrators' intent is rarely clear.
Moreover, information may become available over time, changing initial judgments about incidents.
Users of this database should therefore recognize that reasonable people may differ on whether a particular incident actually constitutes terrorism or some other form of political violence.”
The study of this report exposes the manipulation with the words to target and defame a religion. In a Perpetrators Characteristics column they describe ULFA, PWG NLFT, Maoists (Naxalites), LTTE ( Guilty of killing our Prime Minister) and other Terrorist Organizations with Hindus and Communists as Secular Political/Anarchist but uses Islamic Terrorist for Militancy in Kashmir. In the above table, the site has reported that Secular Political Anarchist and Unknown Terrorist have killed 37, 091 and victimized 1, 63,690 people worldwide. Whereas Muslim Extremists killed 13,122 people and victimized 46,356 people. Interestingly, the report kept out the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and Israeli attack on Lebanon due to their Methodology of war zone or war like settings but reported the resistance of Iraqis and Afghanis as Islamic Terrorism. If we include more than 6 lakhs killings of innocent civilians in Iraq and thousands in Afghanistan by the U.S. and consider insurgency in Iraq as a political violence then the figure will be different or in fact will be the opposite.

One would laugh at the figure of the Jewish Extremists because the Israeli Zionists have killed hundreds of children and women in Lebanon and in Palestine which went unreported or could be in the unknown or Political Anarchist column, who knows?
Making the data more doubtful, at the end of the analytical report the site says: “There may be multiple victims, facilities, or perpetrators involved in a single incident. Therefore, incidents may appear to be counted more than once when summed by victims, facilities, and/or perpetrators.”

These findings expose how the statistics can be prepared and presented to serve U.S. hegemony.

In India nearly 70% of the Terrorist incidents are reported in Jammu and Kashmir. Ulfa, Maoists and Unknowns have caused the remaining damage to India. The site has also reported the incidents of Saudi Arabia, Nepal and Sri Lanka, Nigeria, sometimes, where no Indian is hurt in the Indian Column and thus causing Exaggeration. So, it concludes that the Problem of Jammu and Kashmir in the north, Ulfa in the east and Maoists, in the central and southern India, are the real causes of the Terror.

It is a known phenomenon that the U.S. Media and Agencies are creating a Global Prejudice against Islam and Muslims and our media and some politicians are toeing their line which is creating acute sense of victimization among nearly 150 million Indian Muslims and their situation is well known through the Sachar Committee report.
Therefore, our national media should refrain from following the U.S. line of motivated analysis and should be cautious while using their Database or information because they are hell-bent on fabricating propaganda-infused statistics to serve their own exclusive political interest. We as Indians should see our own National Interest and not fall prey to their Machiavellian machinations.

Secondly, No religion in the world preaches Violence or Terrorism so we must stop blaming any religion and our media should not use the word Islamic Terrorism. Terrorists are terrorists and not Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. Everybody is affected by a Terrorist act and they don't discriminate on the basis of religion. All over the world it is the Politics of Injustice that is creating the Unrest among the people and not the religion.
Finally, the more recent and repeated Blasts in our country should be dealt extensively with by The Central Cop or Mechanism, as proposed by the experts in the leading newspapers.

Yet again Islam is in Question in the Discussion forum on the internet and, of course, a section of Indian community is under suspicion.
Is this attitude helping us anywhere or proving to be counterproductive? Is this not a failure of our intelligence and security agencies? Why any politicians don't take the responsibility and resign? Pakistan, Bangladesh may be guilty of killing innocents in India but surely protecting the flaws of security system and a community is proving to be the readymade Bakra to hide the intelligence failure.
Muslims are the most infamous community all over the world especially after the 9/11. A country that today is waging a war against Terrorism has nourished the same organizations for their cause. But Indian Muslims, generally, are not found to be blameworthy of any international crime. Spare the 93 Mumbai Blasts which according to the Justice Sri Krishna is the effect of the demolition of Babri Masjid and the rights that followed, no Muslim is proved to be guilty by the court but some of them were acquitted. Yet they are suspected after every act of Terrorism or they are guilty unless proved innocent.
On the other hand we don't like to question the culprit of war room leak case, the Bajrangis, who were found preparing Bombs, the Maoists who are killings hundreds of innocent people or the religion or ideology they follow.
People who raised their voice against the failure of our intelligence agencies are termed as anti nationals and are given the example of America where everyone stands united against the Terrorists after 9/11. But India is different from the U.S. Blasts and killing of innocent citizens are not common there but here in India our people are killed every now and then. U.S took many steps to beef up security like created a homeland Security department facilitate greater co-operation among the security agencies etc, but we are not accepting the flaws within and this is proving to be fatal.
Let's celebrate the 60th year of our independence by a mass movement against the Government for their complete failure and inability to protect us and lets call for a review of our system of intelligence and security and lets, we, the Indian get freedom from Terrorism.

Taslima Nasreen is back

Taslima Nasreen, a writer, is in the news again strangely for the same reason. Again She is supported by the champions of Freedom of Expression and hated equally by the Muslims. The role of media is also as usual misinforming the people of this country that Muslims dislike Taslima because of her anti Islamic thoughts. The same media is silent on the dubious role played by our government who have initiated a legal proceedings against M.F.Husain, an Indian and granted Amnesty to a foreigner, Taslima.

Taslima Nasreen, is free to believe whatever she likes and also has the right to get her opinion expressed and disseminated but she or anyone else can never be allowed to assassinate the Character of anybody. Those who have gone through her writings are well aware that Her remarks and language against the Prophet Muhammad, is Derogatory and Unquotable. Muslims do not hate her because of her anti Islamic opinion or writings but are agitating against her offensive remarks towards the messenger of Allah.

As far as the Freedom of Expression in our country is concern the Delhi High Court explains it's on MF Hussain case in April 2004. The High court observed, “Under the garb of freedom of expression no person can be allowed to hurt the religious feelings of any class of people.” The Honorable court further aided, "If one has been granted unlimited freedom, one is required or expected to use it for good purpose and not with malicious intention, to defame or degrade religious deities may be mythological, as these immortals are held in highest esteem and over a period become part of one's day to day religious life to such an extent that anything adverse said or printed or painted hurts the religious feelings immensely.”

Today, Freedom of Expression in the media is subject to profit. The noted journalist and the Megasaysay award winner P.Sainath has observed, “ The journalists today are the Stenographer of the owner of the Newspaper and Channels.” Stories are motivated and dropped by the muscle and money power. Journalists today know how much freedom do they have for the expression?

Apropos article, Jehad against Terrorism by Javed Anand, a known leftist and prominent journalist, he has rightly observed the double standard by the state government of Mahrashtra and Gujrat but ignored to mention the West Bengal Government where Muslims are in the worst condition as mentioned by the Sachar committee. Although one may argue on the proportion but certainly can't deny the apathy as observed in Nandigram.

Naxalites are communist and don't follow any religion. Bush and Blair are Christians who are responsible of killing more than 6 lacks people in Iraq.He is also right to claim that Terrorism is a result of INJUSTICE and has nothing to do with religion because Naxalites are communist and don't follow any religion. It is the same media that blows up every act of terrorism out of proportion; even instantly naming Muslim organizations before any investigation and do not bother to wait for the truth on investigations to come out. Exactly like the Australian police who went to town treating Dr. Haneef as a terror suspect, with flimsiet evidence if any case. In fact, the whole circus was organised as a dry run for future demonising of their favourite villians, in perfect tune with the US and UK's standard practices. In the end, they had to ear crow and release an innocent person, whose only crime was that he had a Muslim name.

The Bombay Blasts case of 1993 is closed and the guilty being punished but the biggest question of today is whether the justice has been done?
The other question arises is about the understanding of law also the hypocrisy of the politicians and the role of the activist Media who played a significant role in the Jessica lal and Nitish Katara cases.
The case of Sanjay Dutt explains the situation after the Babri Masjid Demolition especially in Mumbai. The person of his stature got the threatening calls just because their family was helping a suffering community and for that reason he has to avail the illegal weapons. The Sri Krishna commission explains what has happened to the common people. 900 killed, 1,829 injured and 165 missing in the gruesome riots of December 1992, and January 1993 in Mumbai. The criminal cases, trial and convictions against a minority section of society and an unbinding commission, as proclaimed by the Supreme court, against the other sections simply explore the Hippocratic approach by the Politicians, say Congress.
Repeating the Histories of Right related commission reports the Political parties read Congress has done the same with this report. Government after the government has changed in the Maharashtra and in the Center, after 1998 when Justice Sri Krishna submitted it report but, till today, Action Taken committee highlighted 100 lapses in which no action or inappropriate action has been taken. 12 major lapses against senior political leaders like Bal Thackrey, Madhukar sarpotdar of Shiv Sena, 18 lapses against Police officers and the 78 other lapses. People of India had no hope from the Fascist Parties like Shiv Sena and the BJP but Congress has proved itself that they are no different as far as justice to a community is concern or a fear of loosing Vote of Majority.

Noting that nine years had passed since the Commission submitted its report, The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) would approach the Prime Minister to press for early implementation of the Srikrishna Commission Report but Where is the Minister of Minority? And what is he doing? He has been seeing on the Television interview advocating the rights of Kashmiri Pandits which is absolutely fine but in this case he never bother to say a word.

With the due respect to the hard work of Justice Kode, now a well-known and respected name in the legal fraternity, and the tedious work of Justice Sri Krishna a retired High court Judge, who investigated the 1992-93 rights, their reading about the Mumbai blast is different. A common Indian is unable to understand that Justice Sri Krishna in his report has observed that the Mumbai blast is a reaction of rights after the demolition of Babri masjid while Justice Kode, don’t agree with it. Where are the people who laugh at two different Fatwas by Maulanas on an issue?

The STF was constituted in August 2000 as a prosecuting agency in the riots cases, but in the interview to a news paper Satish Gaikwad, DCP (STF), maintains “Our profile has changed a great deal over the years. We are only meant to monitor the riot-related cases and see that nothing untoward happens in the investigations carried out by local police stations. All work related to the riots was handled by the STF a long time ago and now it’s the responsibility of the police stations” and their main job now is to bust milk adulteration and spurious oil rackets in the city. What a pity??

With the certain exception, the media who were so inquisitive and work as an activist in some cases individual cases and help them to get justice is silent on this Gross injustice. The general media, as usual, is running after Sanjay dutt, a TRP Booster. What he likes? Where does he live? What is he eating so on and so forth? And a newspaper quoted the eminent Editor, of a News Channel, who declared this approach as fair. Besides Urdu newspaper, Hindustan Times, Mumbai edition, under the Courageous Editor, Samar Halarnkar, has started a campaign to implement the Sri Krishna commission Report by exposing the Lapses and it should be applauded and supported.
Following a recent example of the Australians our media and all the Indians should start a campaign against this Gross injustice.

History has proved that unjust Society can’t remain peaceful and the people have to bear the burnt of it. Injustice will facilitate the terrorist organization-mobilizing people for their cause and will diminish the impact of moderates in the Society. Judiciary is helpless Politicians are hypocrites, Administration is guilty and therefore It is the high time that we the people of India, the media raise our Voice and strengthen our Democracy and Justice in our Society.
